Fruit & food guide

Herbs, salads and cut fruit packaging guide

Ready-to-eat produce needs a rigid, clear pack that protects delicate leaves or wet cut fruit, closes securely and often shows if it has been opened. Herbs and microgreens go in shallow clamshells; salads in 16–64 oz containers; cut fruit and arils in sealed trays or tamper-evident cups.

Matching the pack to the product

Product Usual pack

Cut herbs, edible flowers 8–16 oz tamper-evident clamshell
Leafy and meal salads 16–32 oz hinged or tamper-evident container
Family and food-service salads 48–64 oz container

Food safety and trust

Ready-to-eat food is eaten without washing, so retailers, delivery platforms and food-service buyers often ask for tamper-evident packs. A heat-sealed film lid or a tear-strip clamshell gives that proof without stickers.

Shelf life

Keep it cold. Cut fruit and arils last longer under a sealed lidding film suited to the product; herbs like a little humidity and a few vents.
