Overview

Barrier Tray Options for Meat & Protein Protection

AVI offers 14 meat and protein packaging formats, including trays for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). Our high-barrier material range includes PET/PE, EVOH-containing structures for oxygen protection and PA-containing structures for puncture resistance, with selection matched to the product and packing process.

Supported by in-house extrusion, tooling and thermoforming at our Daman facility, AVI helps customers specify tray dimensions, material structure and sealing requirements. Our team can assess options around product shape, handling conditions and shelf-life targets, including applications where bone or sharp edges require additional puncture resistance.

What We Prove

The AVI Advantage

Barrier Structures Matched to the Product

AVI's high-barrier range supports meat and protein applications, from two-layer PET/PE to EVOH-containing structures where greater oxygen protection is required. Our team can recommend a structure based on the food, storage conditions and packaging process, and confirm its availability for the selected tray.

MAP Sealing & Puncture-Resistance Options

MAP tray formats incorporate a heat-seal flange for compatible lidding film. PA-containing material options address puncture-resistance requirements where the product presents sharp edges. Contact AVI's team to discuss barrier and puncture test data, sealing conditions and application trials for your selected structure.

Extrusion & Thermoforming at One Facility

Extrusion, tooling and thermoforming at our Daman facility support coordinated material selection and tray development. Bringing these capabilities together helps our team assess changes to pack dimensions, material gauge and structure against your application requirements.

FAQ

Meat & Protein Packaging FAQs

Common questions from buyers, exporters and procurement teams.

Learn More
What barrier structures does AVI offer for meat and protein packaging?

AVI's range includes PET/PE, PET/EVOH/PE and PET/PA/PE structures. PET/EVOH/PE provides an oxygen-barrier option, while PET/PA/PE offers puncture-resistance benefits. Our team can help select the structure and gauge around your product, sealing process and storage requirements.

Are AVI's meat trays compatible with MAP?

AVI offers MAP tray formats with heat-seal flanges for compatible lidding films. The selected tray, film, sealing settings and gas mixture must be matched to the food and equipment. Seal integrity and shelf-life performance should be validated through application trials.

How can I obtain puncture-resistance data for a PA-containing structure?

Contact AVI's team with your product details, proposed material gauge and handling requirements to discuss applicable test data and qualification support. For products with bones or sharp edges, testing should assess the formed pack under representative filling, storage and transport conditions.
