PET/EVOH/PE

PET/EVOH/PE Laminated Films for Oxygen-Barrier Food Packaging

Finished application of this product, with a human element.

Overview

PET Laminates with an EVOH Oxygen Barrier & PE Sealing Layer

AVI Global Plast supplies PET/EVOH/PE laminated films for food packaging requiring enhanced oxygen-barrier performance. The structure combines a PET base, an EVOH barrier component and a PE sealing layer for suitable meat, dairy, seafood, dates and confectionery applications.

Supported by integrated extrusion and lamination capabilities, these films offer easy-peel or lock-seal options for thermoforming and form-fill-seal processes. Select the specification around your product's oxygen sensitivity, packaging system, storage conditions and intended shelf life.

Structure

PET/EVOH/PE — three-layer structure

PET EVOH PE
  1. PETOuter layer — clarity, stiffness and printability
  2. EVOHOxygen-barrier interlayer — extends shelf life beyond a PET/PE structure
  3. PEInner heat-seal layer — easy-peel or lock-seal, per order

Illustrative structure, not to scale. Per-layer thickness split is confirmed with AVI's team against the order's gauge and barrier requirement.

Material Fit

Is PET/EVOH/PE right for your process?

Oxygen-Sensitive Foods

For products requiring additional control of oxygen transmission through the packaging. Discuss the required barrier performance and intended storage period.

Meat, Seafood & Dairy Packaging

For applications requiring a suitable combination of barrier, forming and sealing properties. Specify the food type, filling conditions and distribution environment.

Dates, Dry Fruits & Confectionery

For products where oxygen and moisture exposure can affect quality. Discuss product sensitivity, presentation and sealing requirements.

Modified Atmosphere Packaging

For packs using a controlled gas mixture. Select the laminate alongside the product, gas composition, lidding material and shelf-life target.

Thermoforming & Form-Fill-Seal

For formed packaging requiring oxygen-barrier performance after conversion. Discuss draw depth, tooling and operating conditions.

PET Base Layer

Provides clarity, stiffness and a surface suited to appropriate printing and conversion processes.

EVOH Oxygen Barrier

Ethylene vinyl alcohol contributes oxygen-barrier performance. Select the construction against the required oxygen transmission rate and intended conditions of use.

PE Sealing Layer

Provides the heat-sealing surface, with easy-peel or lock-seal options matched to the intended lidding material.

Application-Specific Construction

Layer proportions and forming conditions influence the barrier performance of the finished pack. Discuss these alongside storage temperature, humidity and shelf-life requirements.

FAQ

PET/EVOH/PE FAQs

Ask a Question
What is PET/EVOH/PE film used for?
Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) of meat, dairy, dates and confectionery products that need extended oxygen-barrier shelf life.
Why does this structure include an EVOH layer?
Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) is added as an interlayer specifically to extend oxygen-barrier performance beyond what a two-layer PET/PE structure provides.
What thickness does PET/EVOH/PE come in?
Contact AVI's team for the current thickness range.
Does PET/EVOH/PE come in an easy-peel format?
Yes — easy-peel or lock-seal formats are available, in transparent, translucent or opaque finishes.
