Egg, mushroom and vegetable packaging guide
Eggs, mushrooms and many vegetables are sold on open trays: egg trays hold 6 to 30 eggs and stack for transport, while mushroom and vegetable trays are wrapped in film. Clear rPET trays are light, hygienic and show the product.

Egg trays
Plastic egg trays hold eggs apart in individual cells, stack without crushing and can be washed, which suits farms and packing stations. AVI's range covers retail 6 to 12-egg trays, 15 to 30-egg trays for wholesale, a 12-egg quail tray and a tear-off 6 × 2 pack.
Mushrooms
Mushrooms keep best with some air exchange, so they sit on an open tray wrapped in perforated or anti-fog film. AVI's mushroom trays share one 175 × 125 mm footprint in three depths.
Vegetables
Baby corn, beans, chillies and asparagus are sold on shallow overwrap trays sized to the vegetable.

Terms in this guide
- Mono-material
- A pack made from one type of plastic, which is easier to recycle than a mix of materials.
- Nesting
- Stacking empty packs inside one another. Packs that nest deeply fit more to a carton and a container.
- Overwrap tray
- An open tray that is wrapped in film with the product, common for mushrooms and vegetables.
- rPET
- Recycled PET: used PET collected, cleaned and made into new material. The same polymer as virgin PET.
