What is EN 15343 certification?
Short answer
EN 15343 is the European standard for traceability of recycled plastics: it sets how a recycler tracks material from collection to finished recyclate and calculates its recycled content. Certification by an independent body proves a recycled-content percentage with an audit trail. AVI's recycled content is EN 15343 certified by SGS (certificate valid to 17 October 2027).

What the standard covers
- Traceability: where the waste came from, and each step it went through.
- Recycled content: how the percentage is calculated for each batch.
- Conformity: what the recycler must record so an auditor can check the claim.
How AVI uses it
AVI's rPET grades run from 30% to 100% recycled content. EN 15343 certification (SGS) and Intertek verification for qualifying grades let customers quote the percentage with evidence, which tax authorities and retailers increasingly require.

Does EN 15343 make rPET food-safe?
No. It proves how much recycled content there is and where it came from. Food-contact safety is a separate approval of the recycling process (in the EU, Regulation 2022/1616).
Who asks for EN 15343?
Brand owners and importers who need to prove recycled content for plastic taxes, retailer targets or public claims, such as the UK's 30% Plastic Packaging Tax exemption.
