How much recycled content can rPET packaging have, and how is it proven?
Short answer
AVI's rPET sheet is graded to order from 30% to 100% recycled content. The content is documented by EN 15343 recycled-content traceability certification (SGS) and, for qualifying grades, Intertek recycled-content verification, with batch documentation available for each order.

rPET packs made from this sheet
| Pack | Type | Size (L × W × H) | Empty weight | Holds | Per carton | Enquiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PNG 250 / 75 | Hinged lid | 128 × 94 × 75 mm | 9 g | 250 g | 1,225 | |
| A-30 / 45 | Flat lid heat-sealed to base | 145 × 120 × 45 mm | 7 g | 250 g, 250 g heat-seal | 2,100 | |
| PNG 501 / 85 | Hinged lid | 190 × 115 × 85 mm | 16 g | 500 g | 760 / 750 |
All packs are rPET. Figures from AVI's catalogue; tolerances and fill depend on the produce, so samples are the final check.
Why the evidence matters
- UK Plastic Packaging Tax: packaging with at least 30% recycled content is exempt. EN 15343 certification and Intertek-verified content give an importer the documented percentage the tax is calculated against.
- EU: under Regulation (EU) 2022/1616, food-contact rPET is judged on the recycling process itself (assessed by EFSA and listed in the EU register), not on a stated percentage. AVI's food-grade rPET is decontaminated with Starlinger deCON technology at its own plant in India.
- Retailer targets: many brands now report average recycled content; grade-level documentation lets you count it.
Ask AVI's team for the certificate that covers the grade you are buying.
