AVI Global Plast has been featured by Starlinger viscotec as a high performer in India for its advancements in recycled PET (rPET) packaging and its focus on integrating certified post-consumer recyclate (PCR) into food-grade applications.
The feature highlights AVI’s growing role in bridging the gap between sustainability targets and real-world packaging performance—particularly in applications where both material integrity and regulatory compliance are critical.
Building packaging solutions on post-consumer material
At the core of AVI’s approach is the use of post-consumer recycled PET as a primary raw material. While recycled content is widely adopted across the industry, its effectiveness depends on how consistently it can be processed into high-quality packaging.
AVI Global Plast offers rPET sheets with a wide range of recycled content—from 30% up to 100%—supporting customers looking to reduce dependence on virgin plastic while maintaining performance across applications such as fresh produce, food packaging, and FMCG.
“Post-consumer recycled material is central to reducing environmental impact, but it must deliver consistent performance across applications,” said Sukhdeep Singh Sethi, Managing Director, AVI Global Plast.

Advancing food-grade rPET with deCON technology
A key highlight of the feature is AVI’s investment in decontamination (deCON) technology, which enables the production of food-grade rPET sheets.
The process improves material purity by removing contaminants from recycled PET flakes through controlled drying and dedusting. This allows AVI to produce packaging suitable for direct food contact, addressing one of the major barriers in scaling recycled PET for regulated applications.
With this capability, AVI is able to meet requirements set by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), supporting customers exporting to the European Union.
Supporting global markets with compliant packaging
For exporters, especially in fresh produce and food categories, packaging must perform consistently across varying supply chain conditions while meeting regulatory standards.
AVI’s ability to deliver EFSA-compliant thermoformed packaging positions it as a reliable partner for customers operating in global markets, where compliance, traceability, and material consistency are increasingly non-negotiable.
At the same time, regulatory developments in India are moving in a similar direction, with growing emphasis on food safety and recycled material usage. AVI’s current capabilities place it in a strong position to support both export and domestic requirements.
Positioning for the next phase of rPET adoption
The feature by Starlinger Viscotec reflects a broader shift in the packaging industry—from focusing on recycled content percentages to ensuring process control, safety, and application performance.
AVI Global Plast’s investments in technology and vertically integrated manufacturing allow it to address these evolving requirements, supporting customers as they transition towards higher recycled content and stricter compliance frameworks.
